European funding for future research

Erasmus+ has honoured the Foresight project, which was co-initiated by Fontys ILS, with an amount of almost 400.000 euros. Foresight is aimed at developing an education module focused on future-oriented research by young people in different countries. In addition, a tool is being developed to measure the future awareness of students. Foresight has been developed together with partner universities in Turkey, Hungary, Belgium and Spain. ‘Erasmus+ stimulates European cooperation', explains lecturer Christianne Heselmans. ‘To make young people more aware of the future, it is important that they learn to explore it, but also that they do research into what their desired future is. That is what the module is meant for.’ Next year the partner universities will work together on the design of Foresight. Autumn 2019 a pilot starts, followed by an evaluation. The final start of the education module will be mid 2021.
