VERSATILE VAGABOND

Have you ever wanted to just grab your bags and take the first flight to a country where you don’t know anyone or anything? Versatile Vagabond created a design where you can skip the whole process of packing your bags. Just grab the garment and leave, whenever you want to.
The design, created by Shanmei Yao, is a piece of functional clothing that can be transformed into a coat or bag. The idea behind it is that you are able to ‘wear’ your luggage instead of using a suitcase or bag to transport it. The design is multifunctional and offers multiple combinations, so you can wear it as a coat, but you can also use it as a wall decoration where you can fill the pockets.
The design is made with lightweight materials, therefore it’s not only practical but also reducing the negative impact it can have on your ecological footprint when you’re travelling by plane. Lightness is a central issue when choosing materials. This is especially the case when you want to transport items. Versatile Vagabond contains elements borrowed from East Asian workwear. Shanmei Yao used these elements, such as shape, material and colour, to display the contrast between the workwear and the way Western tourists travel.
Versatile Vagabond offers a solution to leave in a fast and easy way. You don’t need to waste time to pack everything. You are able to grab the garment anytime you want to and just go to a place where you can take some rest. Versatile Vagabond fits the trend ‘Radical Escape’ because it allows you to go anywhere and take your most valued possessions with you so you feel comfortable everywhere.
